Time
December 16, 2009First off, apologies for the lack of blog posts. It’s been slightly less than a month since my last entry, which I’ve a feeling is the biggest gap I’ve taken since starting the blog. I have an excuse though!
Thanks to a combination of masses of university work at the end of last month, combined with being quite badly ill (a week and a half plus in bed) I’ve really not been in a situation where it’s been possible to blog.
Fortunately as I’ve been so busy there’s not much to say really, particularly on the games front. The only new games I’ve had a chance to play since returning have been Lego Rock Band and Uncharted 2.
Lego Rock Band is quite a disappointment, but to be honest I never expected it to be anything special. There’s a couple of good new songs, but the only additions to the actual gameplay seem to dumb it down and just make it easier. Even the hardest songs seem easy to complete with all the “get out of jail free” cards the game throws at you when you’d normally fail. I suspect I’ll just import the new songs to RB2 and play them through that, I really can’t be faffed with the story mode.
Uncharted 2 on the other hand is a grand game, even if I am slightly late to the party. I really enjoyed the first one because of it’s back to basics style of proper adventure gaming. Good story tied to a great mix of platforming and puzzle solving gameplay. Not trying anything majorly new, but doing the stuff we love perfectly.
The second one delivers the same again, and probably the best graphics I’ve seen in a long time on console or PC. A really great game in my opinion, and one of my games of the year so far easily.
I guess I better start on Assassin’s Creed II to see if that can better it then…
