Quite liking this new trailer for Bioshock Infinite. Seems like a good idea to mix up the franchise rather than returning to Rapture for a third time. Looks like it could be a great title.

So Dragon Age II was announced this week. I really loved the first game, it was easily the best game I played for the PC last year, possibly just the best overall. Playing through the Awakenings expansion recently reminded just how good it is.

To say I’m looking forward to Dragon Age 2 would be an understatement. Bioware have really left it completely open to where they can go with the game. I get the feeling that they’ll keep the same locale but in a later time period and go with a completely different plot-line and set of characters to origins.

Can’t wait!

Very very, cool. Can’t wait to actually give it a go.

Speaking of games I’m looking forward to, I’m really enjoying Sam & Max Season 3 at the moment. The third episode looks like it’ll be really good, with a whole side of Sam we’ve not seen before. Can’t wait for that either!

I still can’t wait for Portal 2. There’s not a lot that could come out of E3 that could make me long for a game in any larger amount than this.

Whilst I’m still struggling to motivate myself to make more blog posts and to finish the reviews I promised, I’ve got another game to tackle and hopefully review (eventually). I finished up Red Dead Redemption to 100% a few weeks ago, so hopefully I’ll find time to complete a review by the end of this week, 3d Dot Game Heroes is taking a bit more time to get into at the moment though. Today is a substantial day for gaming this year, as for the first time since I completed Resident Evil 4, I will treat my Wii as a games console.

I loved the first Super Mario Galaxy game. While there was nothing individually special about it, the story was average, the graphics (while good for the Wii) were mediocre, and even the controls were a bit frustrating to begin with, everything added together to make a truly enjoyable game. So whilst I’m still a bit loathed to treat the Wii like the big boys, I’m more than happy to play Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Hopefully my post count over the next week or two will improve with E3 just about to arrive, especially with some of the announcements due from certain companies…

So, now that I’m back from uni and have essentials unpacked (fridge, PC, consoles) I can finally get a chance to get my teeth stuck into some games.

There’s three titles that are at the peak of my interest currently; I’ve already finished one, have started the second, and will proceed to the third in good time. All three titles are quite different to each other, but they’re all genres that I love. I’m planning on doing one of my mini reviews for each of them in the near future hopefully.

First up, the game I have played, Machinarium. I picked it up cheap on Steam in one of the recent Mac indie packs and played it through during the last week I was up at uni. It’s pretty much just a standard point and click adventure at first glance,  however it’s one of the most superb and unique point and click games I’ve played in a while. I’ll save most of my thoughts for when I write the review of it, but I can recommend people to pick the demo up without hesitation.

I’m currently focusing most of my time playing Rockstar’s new title Red Dead Redemption. While it’s effectively just GTA: Wild West, I’m really enjoying it so far, it’s easily my favourite Rockstar developed game since Vice City (or maybe even Lemmings?), needless to say I love the setting, and it works really well with this style of gameplay.

Finally 3D Dot Game Heroes on the PS3. I started playing this with a mate before I left uni, but I’ll be starting it again once Red Dead is out of the way. It’s pretty much a tribute (or maybe a parody?) of old classic games as well as games in general. Gameplay is almost a perfect replica of the non 3D Zelda games with a flip-screen style. There’s some fantastic references that I’m pretty sure only very dedicated gamers will get, so maybe not everyone will get the most out of it. Really looking forward to exploring it fully though.

The first episode of the third season of Sam and Max from Telltale games became available for download today. Unfortunately I’m probably not going to get to play until my works all done and dusted. :(

So the first teaser trailer for Gears of War 3 was shown on the Jimmy Fallon show last night, and we can take a few things away from it.

  • Epic still know how to make a really good teaser.
  • Dom’s really let himself go since the last game (understandably).
  • Female COG soldier(s).
  • Double barrel shotgun.
  • Lambent monsters R us.
  • April 2011 release.
